Include LGBT gender identity in laws against discrimination
The Michigan Civil Rights Commission directed an agency to continue investigating complaints of discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity, after the state AG declared the basis for the probes to be invalid because state law does
not protect LGBT people from discrimination. He said "sex" refers to the biological differences between males and females--not sexual orientation or gender identity--and only the Legislature or voters can expand the law to protect LGBT citizens.
